Ofsted 2017 Parent Letter

Dear Parents/Carers,

A copy of our recent Ofsted report is available on the school website and also on the Ofsted website. If you prefer, printed copies of the report are available at reception on request.

The Governors and myself are pleased with many aspects of the report. It highlights how “the school operates smoothly, with good behaviour and polite and well-mannered students”. “The Headteacher provides strong, clear sighted leadership, raising expectations and challenging low aspirations”. “A greater number of pupils are now making the progress they are capable of”, “pupils are polite and well-mannered, they behave well in lessons and around the school”. “The new Governing Board has the expertise required to evaluate information about the progress of different pupils” and “leaders provide training across the school, this is now starting to hit home”. Additionally, “parents’ views of the school are positive” and it is clear that our community has a sense of pride in Park.

It was pleasing that the team could evidence the positive results of numerous changes and developments introduced over the past two years, especially around teaching and learning, leading to ‘improvements in pupils’ progress in English & Mathematics’. In addition, the inspectors saw the great work of our pastoral team and the impact of the House system in supporting ‘good pupil development, welfare and behaviour’.

The Governors and Senior Leadership Team have an accurate understanding of the areas requiring further improvements, therefore this report brings no surprises and validates our work to date. The school had already put into place strategies for school development and improvement. Our 2020 vision, published in December 2016, explains our ambitions and this report will help us continue on our journey to excellence.

We recognise and agree with the overall judgement, which reinforces the direction of travel and action plans we have already identified and have in place. The school will respond to the report, working with you to continue with our plans to further enhance the quality of provision at the school, particularly around our core business of teaching and learning.

The Chair of Governors, Kim Baker, and myself are happy to meet with parents between 2pm and 6pm on Wednesday 21st June. If you would like to book a slot between these times, or if you are unable to make this time/date but wish to talk with a member of staff, please contact the school on 01271 373131 or email: ncorrick@theparkschool.org.uk and we will arrange an appointment at a convenient time for you. As always, we are also happy to respond to email questions.

Thank you for your continued support for our school.

Yours sincerely,

Mr G Roscoe
