On the 6th October, fifteen of our current Engineering and Triple Science Year 10 pupils were invited to West Buckland School for the day to take part in Doctor Michael Smith’s amazing Aerospace Careers Programme (ACP) presentation and interactive workshop.
The Programme, that provides a careers advisory and support service for the aerospace, space and aviation industries, delivers engaging presentations like this one, in order to encourage the interest of young people in modern technology.
The theme of the presentation was Technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) covering:
The Internet of Things
and Virtual Reality.
The pupils witnessed an amazing thought-provoking production, which even included a life-sized space suit!
The second part of the day was centred around breakout sessions, where amongst other things, pupils were able to question the teams of industrial experts, witness a 3D printer in action and use the AR/VR Headsets – which were amazing! They also met Spot the robot.
This really was a fantastic opportunity and experience and we would like to thank West Buckland School for hosting this event and for the invitation on the day.
We would also like to thank Doctor Smith and his team who have agreed to visit our School next autumn to deliver another inspiring production for our lucky pupils!
