Park’s rugby season started with a tough fixture at home to Braunton Academy. Braunton narrowly beat Park in the recent North Devon Schools Football Final, payback was on the cards as the teams prepared for kick off.

Finn Galliford captained the team and set the pace immediately with some powerful line breaks. Toby Huxtable followed Finn’s lead by smashing through Braunton players like they weren’t there. At times the hard work by individuals were let down by breakdowns in communication or giving penalties away but Park resilience remained strong. Will Rogers provided the crowd with an instant match highlight with a crunching tackle early in the first half that delighted the Park School coaches.

At times Park’s organisation could be questioned, but their quality in pivotal moments could not. They ran out 40 – 10 winners. A lot of work to be done but a fantastic start nevertheless.
