Girls North Devon Football Finals

Girls North Devon Football Finals

On the 7th of February Park’s U14  & U16 took place in the North Devon girls football finals.

Under 16s

The U16 faced an untested Chulmleigh side in the final. Chulmleigh got to the final without playing a game so Park were feeling quietly confident that they could secure the win. The girls did brilliantly treating the finals as any other game, taking on instructions and executing the game plan to perfection. Chulmleigh started with a lot of energy and tried to shake Park with their physicality and game smarts. Ava Beattie and her Park team took it in their stride, scoring first and never looking back. Shout outs to Amelia Reed and Violet Hill who were constant threats throughout the tournament and Ruby Holland who volunteered to play in goal in the finals when we needed her to.

The full time result was 6 – 1 to Park, making them North Devon U16 Champions! Well done!

Under 14s

Park U14 also made it to a North Devon Final, this year they faced a Bideford team that had scored 23 goals in the groups stage and not conceded one.

A very tough challenge which the Park U14 girls were more than happy to take on. Early on in the game it was clear that as well as a physical challenge the game was going to be won or lost in the mental battle. The girls to their credit even though going behind quite early on they stuck to the game plan, running and fighting for the ball until the last breath. Unfortunately as tired legs started to set in, tackles started to miss and Bideford pulled away. Special mentions to Annalise Munden who had the hardest task of marking Bideford best player, she worked tirelessly which made a massive difference to the second half performance.

Although the score line in the end started to flatter Bideford, Park U14’s did let the result waive their spirit of togetherness which ultimately got them to the final in the first place. Well done all.

Full time result: 8-1 Bideford
