Once you join Park, we will do our utmost to understand you as an individual and design your learning to suit your needs. Our job is to help you discover your talents, both in and out of the classroom, to nurture them and to provide you with the keys to unlock the door to their next level of development.
We have three underlying principles at Park – Be Kind, Work Hard, Be Here. If you do this, you will do well at Park because we have the teaching model, the opportunities and all the support you need to achieve your best potential.
On joining Park you will also join one of our five House families – Chichester, Raleigh, Kingsley, Drake or Fortescue. The House system is a strong part of our traditions and history. Your House provides you with a team of people who will support you throughout your time at Park. The house system creates a feeling of belonging, inclusion and family – the feeling of a small-school within a larger setting as each house consists of around 300 students from Year 7 to Year 11.
We believe, that with the right attitude for learning, there are no limits to what you can achieve. We ask that you are enthusiastic, equipped and ready to learn. We encourage you to ask questions, to always have a go and to work hard. We expect you to complete your class work and homework to the best of your ability.
The school has three 12 week cycles of learning. For each cycle you will be provided with a Knowledge Book. At the start of each cycle there is an assessment to understand the knowledge you already have so we have a baseline from which to improve. There are then 10 learning weeks designed to help you embed core subject knowledge for the longer so you can apply this knowledge to different situations and explore the subject areas more deeply. At the end of each cycle, we check progress and then tailor the learning to give you the best possible chance to succeed in your examinations.
The extra-curricular opportunities at Park are varied and plentiful. We offer outdoor education and a multitude of after school clubs. There will be lots of performance opportunities in sport, the arts and beyond. There will be the chance to travel and explore the UK and overseas. We encourage you to join in, try new things and you will discover new passions which may unlock more opportunities to you in the next stage of your life.
We are not ashamed of our high expectations and standards. We want the best for all of our students. If you share in our values and believe in our vision, we hope that you will choose to join us. We will do our utmost to help you gain the best qualifications you can and to equip you with the support, skills, knowledge and confidence that will allow you to flourish with resilience and hope into a bright future.
