Year 7 were aiming to finish their first term at Park unbeaten. Winning against Great Torrington School and Bideford was the perfect start, but Chulmleigh were capable of causing an upset. Park had to show the right attitude if they were going to take all three points home.
Finlay Galliford started the game strong, dominating the middle of the pitch and breaking forward when possible. Shots on target seemed the only thing missing for Park’s team and eventually the goals came in thick and fast. Phineas Hughes scored two – the second a superb volley. Some near misses started to stretch the Chulmleigh team which resulted in the ball falling to Galliford who curled the ball in over the keeper.
Unfortunately, the second half did not live up to the heights of the first half, the game got scrappy which suited Chulmleigh. However, this didn’t affect Park’s defensive resolve. Freddie Sharp read the game to perfection, intercepting passes and winning 1v1s. A solid away trip to complete a successful term for the Year 7s.
