The last group fixture for Year 8 was a great opportunity to build some form and move on from last week’s disappointing result against Bideford. The group seemed determined to set the record straight – Park wanted the win! Alfie Sullivan began the game driving Park up the pitch with some delightful dribbling, Chulmleigh couldn’t handle his tenacity and bravery on the ball. Direct football suited Park and made for excellent viewing.
Completely against the run of play Park conceded a penalty… Up stepped Theo Jacobs with an incredible save and lighting reactions to keep out the rebound effort from Chulmleigh. Romeo led Park’s defensive efforts, winning his individual battles time after time.
A first-half counter attack resulted in a Park goal: some patient build up play found Harry Tweedie in acres of space towards the right of the box, and he finished calmly, striking across the keeper to make it 1-0. Chulmleigh equalised with a deflected effort beating Theo. Ollie Berry landed the second after linking up the attack neatly and finding the net with ease.
