Match report by George King, PE Technician
This week the girls football teams played their last league fixtures to find out if they could make it to the North Devon finals. Park U14 had already made it through, but it was the U16 & U12 teams that had it all to play for.
The 16′ s started in top position in group 1 before kick off. To continue their unbeaten run they would need to beat Pilton & Ilfracombe. Both games the girls felt confident they would secure the points, it was now a matter of execution.
All the girls did brilliantly, applying themselves to the game plan, working as a team and as a result won all 3 of their matches. Special mentions to Violet Hill for some incredible centre forward play linking up the attacks and scoring goals.
The U16’s play Chulmleigh in the final on the 7th of February for a chance to be North Devon Champions.
The year 7 girls had one the closest league tables in recent history. Level with Braunton on points only goal difference separated the two teams. The girls knew they had to beat Braunton and win all their games to have a chance to get through to the final.
Evie Mannley, Liv Lisle, Millie Gosso applied themselves brilliantly. Their effort to drive the team forwards at every opportunity was unmatched by any players on opposite sides.
After a 0-0 draw with Braunton, Park year 7’s only chance to win their group was to beat Pilton by 10 goals. An unbelievable effort from the team against Pilton finished 8-1 to Park. This meant that Park lost out on goal difference by 3 goals, sadly finishing second and not going through to the final.
Everyone in the team can be proud of the way they conducted themselves in a very tricky few games. Special mention to Liv Lisle who’s perfomance in every game motivated the team and earned them a total of 20 goals scored over 6 matches.
