David Hill who competed in the Paratriathalon in the Rio Paralympic Games spent the day at our school on Monday 12th December. Students took part in several Paralympic sports including goalball and boccia with David as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport Project. David linked his sporting success to the ‘6 Keys to Success’ and asked students to think about these and apply to themselves.
The students had a great time trying out some new sports for the first time and finding out about how David had overcome personal barriers.
Lauren Hedden, aged 13 said “it was great, there was so much cooperation and friendly competition between everyone” and Harvey Turner aged 12 said “I really enjoyed the morning particularly meeting David who supported us working as a team“.
Lorraine Stone (SENDCo) at the school said that “the visit was great for students to hear David’s story of overcoming barriers in his life and applying these to their lives”.
