Sports Leaders officiate Primary Football Comp

On 26th March 12 teams from the Barnstaple Primary Schools competed in this year’s Primary Football Competition, with Pilton Bluecoat the eventual winners and Sticklepath runners up. Lots of great performances and fantastic team spirit was shown by all. Pilton BC, Our Ladys, Stcklepath and Orchard Vale will now go through to the North Devon Competition in July – good luck to them.

The games were officiated by sports leaders from Park, who did a marvellous job, receiving lots of great positive comments from the school staff for their efforts.

Approx. 50 students from Y7 and the same from Y8, are selected each year to receive extra support and training to develop their leadership skills. This takes place in extra training sessions in their PE lessons. These leaders are then given the opportunity to practise their skills at the primary school festivals throughout the year.

The primary school festivals involve all year groups from Y1 to Y6 and cover activities such as athletics, cricket, tennis, rounders, football, netball, multi skills and multi sports.
