LGBT+ inclusion

LGBT+ inclusion

Park Pride

Set up in 2018, Park Pride is our school’s group for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender students, their friends, allies and anyone who has any questions about their gender or sexual orientation.  Our group meets one lunchtime a fortnight in the school Library.

Students bring their packed lunches, chat with friends and receive support when necessary from the group organisers Mrs Veale and Toni Rance.  Sometimes we have visitors to our meetings from outside support agencies, we also hold cake sales and inform our members about local youth groups and Pride events.

Rainbow Flag Award

We are proud that Park School is being assessed towards the Rainbow Flag Award.  The Rainbow Flag is a quality assurance framework for schools and colleges to assess and monitor LGBT+ inclusion.

The Rainbow Flag encourages a whole school approach to LGBT+ inclusion as well as developing strategies to challenge and combat LGBT+ phobic bullying.

We hope that our participation in this program will improve the lives of all our LGBT+ students and also those students with LGBT+ family members and LGBT+ staff.

Below you will find Links to a list of outside agencies which offer support to LGBT+ young people and their families.  A simple explanation of LGBT+ terms, and some school guidance documents about transgender and non-binary inclusion.
