Wednesday the 26th of November was an important night for The Park School in the North Devon Schools Cup Final against local rivals, Pilton Community College. It was a cracking game that led to a 3-2 win for Park although we got off to a bad start with an own goal (not mentioning any names!). Jack Rice pulled it level with a stunning 25 yard free kick that slotted into the top right hand corner leaving the Pilton goalie flat footed.
Both sides scored shortly after that , but both attempts were sadly off-side. After a while Pilton decided to bring on a sub and within 5 minutes he had scored a sitter into the bottom left of the Park goal which just beat the awesome Angus Napier in goal. Moments later the whistle blew for half-time.
Shortly after the second half started it looked like Mr Horton’s team talk had paid off when Harry Pipe scored a goal in the 50th minute to bring back into the game for the second time. It now stood at 2-2 with 20 minutes left. Both teams played at their best until the last minutes of the game. Pilton gave away a free kick just outside of their box which Kyle Darragh took. He struck it well but it bounced off of the woodwork and was helped into the back of the net by Jacob Glover.
Park School played well as a team throughout the tournament. Special thanks to all of the subs who didn’t get to play in the final but who helped us to get there, and extra-special thanks to our manager Mr Horton who led us to this win. A special mention to Ryan Pool who ran the line brilliantly for the match.
