Yr10 students get a taste of Exeter University

Written by Mr K-K, Careers Leader & KS4 Academic Mentor

On Tuesday 19th of March 50 current Year 10 students visited Exeter University. This event was hosted in conjunction with NSSW, who very kindly donated a bursary to cover the cost of the coach for the day. Upon arrival the students were split into two groups. One group received an informative presentation from Christine Ridgeon and Josh Presley from NSSW on what to expect during University life, how to acclimatise to life away from home and how to budget whilst studying for a degree. They also detailed how the student loan process works and how to obtain possible future grants and assistance with university life.

The second group received a comprehensive tour around the campus from Exeter’s inspiring, current student ambassadors. To complete the day both groups were then able to take part in a Q&A session with the ambassadors.

I would like to personally thank all of the professionals and students who took part in these events, I hope that they have informed and inspired our current students in Year 9 & 10 and I look forward to assisting many more of our students on future trips and events.
